Another thing: I never realized it until this show, but he doesn't miss much that happens on the front row. I mean, I knew he paid attention, but I never realized just how closely he's paying attention.
The Moz-solo lady who was with me asked him at one point if we could sing Happy Birthday to him. She didn't yell it all that loud and I didn't think he heard her at all, but he scrunched his face up in a "please don't" kind of face so he heard her and "answered" her without saying a word. (She and I started singing and soon the whole auditorium joined in. He drowned us out before we could finish but I don't think he exactly hated it). :) At another point, she held her note out for him, and he made a face at her that's hard to describe but I know I was on the receiving end of it once in Pasadena when I held a note I had out for him that he never took from me. (Or at least he didn't up to the point that I accidentally dropped it into a puddle of beer and I left it there). When he made that face at her my jaw dropped and I laughed. It was just so..... obvious he was saying no.... don't think so.... not now. I wasn't really sure until right then if he'd even seen her because you know, he was busy singing and all that. It was hilarious and I felt like telling her right then she might as well put her note away. (I think he was teasing her, btw. I don't think he was being grumpy).
So anyway my point is: don't ever think he doesn't hear you or see what you do if you're that close. I think he sees and hears all so don't think you'll get away with saying or doing something unnoticed if you're anywhere near his field of vision. ;) I had been thinking that I was so cool about touching his hand he probably didn't even notice, but now I'm pretty sure he noticed and he knew exactly what I was doing. D'oh. :)
